jeff callawayJeff Callaway tells us how he got started in the business of mixing drinks and as a musician:

Compliments of the Daily Journal Newspaper

“I was the first graduate assistant at Vandercook, and while I was there I got this job at the Hyatt Regency as a bartender," Callaway said. "They hired all jazz musicians to bartend. They taught us how to do cocktail-style bottle spinning — you would spin bottles and bartend for 45 minutes and get up and play three songs. I was suddenly around really superb musicians, guys who had been to Eastman and Berklee and guys who had been on the road with Woody Herman, and I was Joe Redneck from Chitlin’ Switch who couldn’t hack his way through 'Satin Doll' with a machete. So those guys got me started on the road. Those guys showed me what I had not learned as a musician and they set me on the path.”
